Operation Baby Blanket

Operation Baby Blanket supports new and expecting mothers whose husbands have been or soon will be deployed overseas. One of the groupâ€™s main projects supplies new mothers with â€œmommy packetsâ€� consisting of a blanket, a hat, and 12 birth announcements â€” all hand-knitted or handmade by Operation Baby Blanket volunteers.

Soldiers’ Angels

With 35,000 members worldwide, Soldiersâ€™ Angels supports all branches of the military. Soldiersâ€™ Angels “adopts” service members, supports combat support hospitals (CSHs), and hands out backpacks containing much-needed items to the wounded at both CSHs and military hospitals. It also manages numerous other programs, including one through which donors can purchase Kevlar blankets for the troops. These blankets can be attached to the doors and floors of unarmored Humvees to protect against improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and direct fire.
